6:00 p.m. - Cornelius Congress Dinner and Induction
Any ONA member is welcome to attend the Cornelius Congress Dinner and Induction Ceremony. The Cornelius Congress recognizes members of ONA who demonstrate the leadership characteristics of Dorothy Cornelius in their work and with the Ohio Nurses Association. The 2009 nominees will be inducted this year, and the 2011 nominees will be announced.

ONA members, districts and local units, as well as businesses, donate items to be auctioned off to raise money for ONA’s Political Contributing Entity (PCE).

Hors D’Ouerves Buffet
Heavy hors d’ouerves will be served in the public area. Attendees can eat and network with colleagues, and then visit the following attractions.
Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure
Great for first-time attendees and anyone that needs to brush up on Robert’s Rules of Order, this session will cover the rules by which the House of Delegates will be run and how to conduct business in the House.
Exhibit Hall
Nursing and health-care related vendors set up exhibit booths to inform nurses of their products and services. There is also a raffle set up to encourage nurses to visit each booth and collect a sticker from the vendor, attach it to their entry form and turn in to ONA staff for entry into a drawing.
Poster Presentations
In this session, nurses present educational information to attendees in the form of a poster. Topics include health and safety, nursing practice, research, education, management and professional development. To submit a poster for consideration, click here.
Avenue of Issues
ONA districts, local units, committees and affiliated organizations set up booths to educate attendees about issues affecting the nursing profession – past, present and future. Contact Lisa Walker at lwalker@ohnurses.org to request a booth.
7:30 p.m. Opening of the House of Delegates – Keynote Speaker Karen Daley, ANA President
The House of Delegates is where all the action happens. The opening ceremony includes an invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, Nightingale Tribute, introductions and greetings, registrant report, establishment of a quorum, standing rules of the House of Delegates, establishment of the agenda, reference proposals report and emergency proposals, Nominating Committee Report and nominations from the floor, and the Keynote Address.

The Local Unit Caucus is the meeting ONA’s collective bargaining members to discuss issues related to ONA’s Economic and General Welfare program.
8:45 a.m. Candidates Forum
Candidates for ONA offices give timed speeches to the attendees during this time.

Finance Hearing
ONA’s financials are presented and explained.
Bylaws Forum
Submitted bylaws changes are presented and explained.
Reference Proposals
Submitted reference proposals are presented and explained.

Districts meet separately to discuss issues of relevance to the districts.
