Per Article VII of ONA’s Bylaws, ONA holds a convention every odd-numbered year at which a voting body, the House of Delegates, establishes the broad goals of ONA over the next two years.
The House of Delegates takes positions on issues, determines policy, and sets direction on substantive issues requiring the authority and backing of the official voting body of ONA. The House of Delegates also adopts and maintains bylaws and elects members of the Board of Directors, the Nominating Committee, and the Commission on Economic and General Welfare.
Convention also includes pre-convention continuing education, exhibitors that promote products and services of interest to ONA members, a silent auction to raise money for ONA’s Political Contributing Entity and an awards ceremony to honor ONA members that have made significant contributions to nursing.
The 2011 Convention is in Columbus, Ohio at the Dublin Embassy Suites on October 14-16, 2011.
